Proofreading Services

I'm a freelance proofreader with 25 years of experience in marketing and client-facing roles, including 12 years as an Account Director in the advertising industry where I edited and checked content for ads, brochures and web projects.

For the last seven years, I've been working with the global communications team at Unilever, proofing their press releases, news articles and web pages. I also proof and edit articles, interviews, competitions and recipes for the print and online editions of Devon Home and Taste Buds magazines. I work closely with a European translation agency, proofing and editing press releases and brochures for a wide variety of multinational clients.

I'm a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and a fluent English speaker with a degree in Business and Marketing. I work from home in Hampshire and my flexible set-up means I can take on quick turnaround jobs when required.

I work on projects of all sizes, from short social posts to complex annual reports. I'm available primarily to proofread and edit copy, but I also manage website content including uploading images, adding listings, checking content and editing blog posts.

Please contact me if you would like more information on my proofreading services.

What my clients say…

“I’ve been working with Raphael since October 2020 and she’s been brilliant in every single aspect. Her reliability, considerate input and attention to detail make her an invaluable partner for my projects.

Raphael spots every little inconsistency, and her edits always much improve my copy and translations, transforming them so that they’re structured well, that there’s no ambiguity and unnecessary repetitions and – most importantly – that they sound natural.”
Susanne Lewis, Matterhorn Languages

“Nothing is too much trouble for Raphael, who is not only a reliable and professional proofreader and subeditor, but also adapts to any situation or deadline. I would thoroughly recommend her services.”
Jennie Cooper, Editor/Publisher of Taste Buds and Devon Home magazines

“However thorough I like to think I am, Raphael always seems to find ways to tweak, edit and ultimately improve my copy. She's an eagle-eyed expert when it comes to proofing, and a pleasure to work with.”
Emma Treadwell, Sparkling Copy Limited

“Working with Raphael has been absolutely wonderful in every sense. She has incredible attention to detail, but goes above and beyond what I would normally think of as ‘proofreading’: offering intelligent and sensitive suggestions for how we can improve the sentence flow and word selection. Raphael is a genuine pleasure to work with and I could not recommend her more highly.”
Dan Lehner, previous Head of Client Delivery, MyKindaFuture

“What is great about Raphael is that she doesn’t just check your work for grammatical errors – she thinks about the story, what it’s trying to convey and its context. Her amends are always thoughtful, considered and make my copy not only accurate – but a better read. What’s more, she always hits a deadline and is a pleasure to work with.”
Ali Warner, owner Ali Warner Editorial Ltd

“Raphael is a dedicated and reliable professional, attending to work with great speed and attention to detail. A brilliant communicator and amazing support, on top of being a very lovely lady to work with.”
Maeve Fitzmaurice, previous Global Digital Content Manager, Unilever

“Raphael was impressive to work with from the start! Fast turnaround on work. She is very accurate and thorough, which is exactly the support we were looking for, and she was able to work on brand new topics that she hadn’t worked with us on before.”
Rowena, Head of Product Development at a Social Enterprise Start Up

“When I recently finished writing my website, Raphael was the person at the top of my list whose proofreading skills and opinion I trust. She didn’t change my tone of voice but made some great suggestions and picked up the grammatical errors. She’s my first proofreading choice, every time.”
