Spring Summer Trend Report

Louise VuittonWhat we’ll be wearing this summer….

Emerald green has been touted as the colour for summer. Some call it Forest Green. Call it what you will but just don't go for a head to toe look.

The biggest trend by far is chic monochrome. Think Mod and Mary Quant. It’s all about monochrome stripes and checks, the Chanel look, doe eyes, 60s vibe, you get the idea. Louis Vuitton nailed it this season with models descending onto a checkered catwalk via escalators during its show at London Fashion Week.

Vertical, horizontal or diagonal stripes remain a key look for this season. Stripes are a very simple way to make a big statement. The thicker the better.

It’s time to dig out your baseball caps… they’re back in vogue right now.

And another Stylechapel favourite, the biker jacket is in town this summer. Rev it up.

Unusually flat shoes were all over the spring/summer shows. We love The Times’ Hannah Rochell’s blog devoted to flat shoes. Get inspired here. En Brogue.

Art Deco ChokerMetallics are another key look this season. The shiner the better. Topshop and Zara are doing some great metallic looks. Or why not opt for a metallic look clutch with one of our Love Birds purses.

And onto to one of our favourite subjects… jewellery

The spotlight is firmly on statement jewellery this season – chokers, over-the-top earrings and big cuffs.

Big earrings popped up all over the catwalks. Necklaces studded with jewels at Christian Dior. Large pearls and baubles at Chanel.

The Queen Bee

According to Vogue, this season is an apiarist's delight. Designers are enchanted with the humble bee. The Alexander McQueen’s bee-studded chokers were a favourite. And we even have our own bea bee art deco style choker and matching bea bee earrings.

        What’s hot in interiors...
Purple Dahlia Cushion
We’ve chosen three key trends for interiors this year, identified by one of our favourite interiors and property writers Kate Watson-Smyth (Kate’s brilliant blog is www.madaboutthehouse.com)

Indigo and concrete: the colours for 2013

Indigo – which has been predicted as the colour of 2013 by Dulux – can range from a gorgeous navy shade to a deep purple. Kate recommends teaming it with coral or white for a really smart look.

Concrete is another strong colour prediction for this year.

Transparency

On the transparency trend, Kate says “It will instantly de-clutter a space and make it appear lighter and emptier. I love the idea of filling a transparent trunk with different objects as the mood takes you.”

Stripes

A Stylechapel favourite, it’s easy to introduce to your home whether you go for a nautical look or a more sophisticated monochrome. A striped rug or wall will make a dramatic statement. Or you can go for a softer approach with striped cushions or table linen.
